(More customer reviews)Thank goodness I got these cheap! I realize that they probably wouldn't reach 35 miles, but it was a little ridiculous when they wouldn't reach 2 miles in a vehicle. Granted we are out in the hills in C. Nebraska, and in a vehicle, but they are by no means close to mountains, and the vehicle couldn't have interferred that much. If you want to get more range out of them you need to be outside, any little thing interferres with the reception, just try listening to the NOAA station and put your hand on the antenna and you will see they are sensitive. The key is being outside of the house or vehicle with no interference and you will get a few mile out of them. Other reviews I read have had better results, but I would not pay the full price for these, Cabelas has them for around $114.00, and I paid around $69.00 on amazon. They are not bad radios, its just that the advertisement for their range and so forth is drastically blown out of proportion, granted their are probably no other radios on the market that would do better, so they are good for outdoor comm. within a few miles and the NOAA is a nice feature.
