(More customer reviews)We purchased these radios to use when camping and they work well other than the range is nothing close to the "up to 28 miles" they advertize. Give me a break! Maybe they test them in outer space. We have been able to get maybe a mile away at times with some static. The battery life seems much improved over our previous Uniden radios, plus the batteries are NiMHs so they don't need constantly charged like our older NiCd ones. The kids love them and as long as you are in an open space and reasonably close, they work great. We had read the reviews and owned similar Uniden radios in the past, so we were only expecting maybe a mile at most in range, so thus the 4-star rating. I would give it 5 stars if they were advertised as maybe up to 2 miles, but have to ding it a star do to the ridiculous 28 mile claim.
